Curtis does Comic Relief, Red nose Day 2009

Today we sponsored Curtis to make as many people laugh and smile during the day as he could....and he sure put his heart into the task, using many of his now well honed cute and comic pieces such as peekaboo games, standing with his arms stretched out behind him like a ski jumper mid air, doing cutesy sideways glances, and generally chattering away and being the dafty he usually is. Dedicated to the task he only took a 1.5hr sleep break in the afternoon, so tonight we've donated money on his behalf to Comic Relief.

How heartbreaking it is to watch the clips on TV of the poor wee babies in Africa ill with Malaria, and of the many people suffering hardships in the UK. Even more painful to watch now as a parent.

Curtis the music man

We've been pretty slow in getting round to putting Curtis's birthday money to use - apologies to those still waiting to know what we've done with theirs, but today we can finally tell Grandad Ken that Curtis's birthday money was used to buy him his very first guitar - a mini one of perfect baby proportions with safely capped off tuning coils as well as a percussion set which included a cool drum & drumsticks, a harmonica, a tambourine and two shakers.

For some time now he's shown an interest in Gareths guitar and to give Curtis more freedom to experiment we thought one his own size would be great fun. He loves it, though isn't sure if it's a musical instrument or a ride on toy, often combining both. He bashes away on the drum, shakes the shakers and tambourine but is yet to master blowing to produce a noise from the harmonica. He puts it to our mouths to play it for him and this amuses him immensly so I'm sure the day he does it himself he'll be totally blown away!

Thanks Grandad Ken, I love my presents and I've got a sneaking suspicion that you'll be kinda pleased with the choice of gifts too x x x x x

News from Curtis Hughes

Mum and dad have taken lots of videos and photos of me lately (so what's new huh!!) but haven't had time to upload them yet so here's some news from me.

Hairy head - yes, I really do now have what could be described as a full head of hair, it's not the longest or thickest hair but it's strawberry blonde, fairly straight and alll mine. I think I'm now past my baldy days, at least for the next 20 years or so (genetics ain't on my side for this one!).

Visiting Kelvingrove Museum - mum and I spent our Wednesday afternoon hanging out in the West Ends fantastic Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow. The large open spaces wewre great for practising walking and the huge array of animals on display cause much 'oooooing' 'ahhhhhing' and pointing. Nearly all of Curtis's favourite animals from his 'where's spot' book were in there life size which cause great excitement from Curtis and some embaressment from mum as she was forced to produce appropriate animal noises for each one just as she must do when reading the book.
