March 11 th Nursery School Visit

A sunny morning for a change and we did a repeat of yesterday going to maxwell park. Me and Curtis went for a stroll while Steph jogged on ahead. Much nicer today in the sunshine rather than pouring rain. Whilst there we met Nicola Gregor and Anna. Anna is just 3 weeks younger than Curtis and Gregor is her older brother. We did another lap of the park with them before heading home.

Yet again Curtis sat contently in his little rocking chair watching while we eat our lunch. Makes such a difference that he'll sit there without protest.

With Steph Returning to work in August and time passing in a flash, we thought it time to check out potential nurseries to look after the little man. The thought that we would ever leave him somewhere for the day feels so wrong at the moment though.
So we went to visit a local nursery which was actually a lot better than we thought it would be. Curtis was totally awake and alert the whole time checking out everything that there was to see. Making sure it reaches his high standards. All the little kids there wanted to say hello to him.

He was so calm and well behaved that on the way home we decided to call in to asda and do some food shopping. We put him in the trolley in his car seat and he slept the whole time.

The video here we took when we got back and is typical how he is at the moment. Its like he's really trying to tell us something.

This morning started with a family outing to maxwell park at 8.30am. Curtis was quite happy in his pram wrapped up all warm with his "rock star" hat on and sheltered by his pram rain cover. T'was a typical Glasgow day, freezin cold and non stop rain.

With dad to push the pram mum took the opportunity to jog off into the distance, round the park and then back to meet us again. A jog around the park is the start of post pregnancy fitness regime.

The little man was in a great happy mood today, smiling and laughing all morning. He even sat patiently in his little rocking chair watching us both eat lunch together. A rare treat as usually 1 of us gets to eat while he other holds him. But today after weeks of fighting to stay out of the vibrating rocking chair, he finally decided it aint too bad after all and sat there quite hapily for 45 mins watching the world go by around him.

Later spurred on by our new contented little bubby, we felt confident to go visit Auntie Siobhan and kayla. Nice to be able to go to see other people rather than them having to come to us.

Siobhan hadnt seen him since week 1 and got a bit of a shock at how diferent he is now. Curtis also met Kayla for the first time who gave him a good sniff and a lick. (Kayla is a dog by the way and not a person with strange introducing customs).

As we are becoming accustomed, Curtis fell asleep at 19.30 and we were able to sit down together and have a meal for the 2nd time in 1 day!!!!

We have also started to use the baby monitors so we can hear exactly whats going on. He sleeps for so long at night just want to be sure he's not sneakily playing his Nintendo DS or listening to his MP3 player when he thinks we're not looking.

Growing up so fast!

Have been a bit lazy with the blog lately as have been spending extra time trying to get Curtis into a daytime routine, now that we have nightimes all sewn up. It's far harder as he just cant seem to settle to sleep during the day...he doesn't like to miss anything and seems to shake himself awake every time his eyes start to close. He does so well at night that we think curtains to block out all light in our room might be the answer to getting him to nap during the day.

So, as I've stayed at home the past few days trying to coax Curtis to have some shut eye there isn't much to report....but he does seem to be growing at an alarming rate which is most noticeable when he's in the bath. He used to love to kick his feet off from one end of his bath to make a big splash but now he reaches both sides and since he still insists on splashing about I even struggle with two hands to keep him in his bath as he kicks about.

As I've been introducing Curtis to music recently he has grown quite fond of staring at our stereo mesmerised as he hears different sounds or voices on the radio, so I ordered him his own wee music and lightshow for his cot and I'm pleased to see he really likes it.

Here's a couple of snaps from our day. There's one here for you Siobhan...that cute suit you bought him that you thought he'd not fit into for months...we'll he's been in it a few weeks now as you can see.

Auntie Gillian

This mornings routine started early at 6.20 to try and combat restless sleepless daytime. However after a feed and being changed, lie in boy decided to go back to bed for another 2 hours. However this allowed Steph to clean the entire house and wash some clothes before he woke up again looking for some food.

Night times are amazing at the moment. He's got into a routine now of going to sleep at 7.30pm. He's done that for a full week.

Thank you to Gillian who came round today and brought cakes and flowers and a new snow siut for curtis. She also brought cards and presents from Stephs work friends at the University.

Gillian hadn t held a baby for very long before and she set a new personal best time today. She also stayed for bath time to see curtis splashing about like a mad man which is one of his new favourite things.

Sunny weather, Sunny Boy.

It was sunny today as was Curtis's mood. Just as well as today was a day to get on with things no matter what.

First thing this morning Curtis got dressed like the snowman from Yesterday and headed off to the postoffice. As its only a short walk Steph took him in his harness which he quite liked until he got inside the postoffice. Then as he couldn't be bothered waiting in line he cunningly worked out that if he screamed as loud as he could so no-one could hear themselves think or speak he could skip to the front of the queue and be seen first. As soon as he got outside again his work was done and he immedietly stopped crying.

Later with another boost of confidence Steph and Curtis headed by themselves in the car to Asda to do the shopping. Curtis was a bit stunned by the size of the massive shelves of food and the bright lights and stared non stop eyes popping out of his head until he feel asleep.

Boyed by earlier successes a 3 rd trip in 1 day saw Steph and Curtis head off in the car once more, this time clothes shopping at Braehead. Only to be foiled however by pesky road works on the M8. Good fortune diverted them to Silverburn where they were able to call in on dad at work to say hello. Curtis slept through most of it though.

6 nights in a row now Curtis has gone to bed at 7.30pm and not cried until 7.00am. WOW! Steph wakes him up at about 3.30 for a feed but he barely wakes up while he's feeding.

Snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A freezing snowy day ment staying indoor wrapped up warm with cardigan and slippers on. His Funky T shirt was brought back all the way from Barcelona by uncle Jamie. We ve been waiting since X-mas to be able to put it on him. His Cool blue cardigan with a pointy hood was knitted specialy for him by his Nanna. We thought about going out for a walk today or going into town but it didnt stop snowing all day so we thought better of it.

All the snow however provided a perfect opportunity for Alisia upstairs to build an amazing igloo in the back Garden. We all wanted to go in and shelter from the cold however she cleverly made it almost exactly Alisia size so no one could get in but her.

2nd March Happy Mothers Day!!!!!!

Stephs 1st ever mothers day. Curtis bought his mum some lovely flowers to show how much he appreciates her and we all spent a nice peaceful day at home together.

A big thank you on mothers day to Nany and Nanna for being such greats mums.
It was also Mothers day for Moira from the flat upstairs who was celebrating the day having a tea party in the garden with her girls Alisha and Chloe. We popped out to say hello and snatched the chance to get a photo of the kids together.

Perfect Boy, Day 2!!

Wow, this is fantastic...two days in a row of having a model baby. I think he must have been reading the Gina Ford book too as even his feeds and sleeps were running to clockwork as outlined in the book for a 6 week old baby. In fact, he never requested his 10.30pm feed and slept from 7.30pm-3.20am...and even then it was only that I heard him move about a bit and thought he should be fed. After that it was 5am and then 7am when he woke for feeds, just as it was yesterday!

After yesterdays rain and winds we made the most of a bright morning and went to visit Jamie, who was happily distracted from putting up curtains to entertain and be entertained by the new improved Curtis. Millie was also delighted to see Curtis and licked his head whenever she had the chance. Curtis had smiles for everyone today :-)

Its amazing how much can change occurs in 24hrs. Today he was far better at holding his neck up when on his front, stayed in his bouncer for a whole 10 minutes while I tidied up (we've been progressing by an extra minute each day for the past week or so), he watched his mobile for about 8 minutes and spent some time entertaining himself in his cot by generally throwing his arms and legs around, and let me put him on his playmat for 5 minutes without too much stress. Up until now we have had to carry and hold him nearly all the time as he protested every time we put him down anywhere.

On these good days we are able to more easily identify his various moods and cries. Today he showed Jamie one of his latest cries: the low sad cry accompanied by a quivvering bottom lip. I never thought I'd say his crying was cute...but this one is!

The only disadvantage with the new bedtime routine is that Gareth doesn't get to see Curtis so much, but I'm managing to take several video clips through the day to keep him updated on the wee man's day. Sad though isn't it that Gareth and I then spend our time together in the evening watching Curtis's video clips over and over and missing him as he lay sleeping next door. New parents huh!
